Consumer Protection

The Superintendence of Industry and Commerce is responsible for ensuring consumer's rights. The Deputy Superintendence for Consumer Protection is responsible for inspecting, monitoring and controlling market agents so that the rights and interests of consumers are not violated when commercial exchange has been made. Thereby, consumers have the right to receive truthful information and advertising that do not mislead them and to receive quality products that do not harm their life, health or integrity.

María Carolina Ramírez García

A lawyer from the Externado University of Colombia, she specializes in Telecommunications and New Technologies Regulation and Management, and Public Procurement.

She has more than 18 years of experience in the public sector and has held prominent positions, including deputy prosecutor of the Disciplinary Chamber of the Attorney General's Office and advisor to the Elite Group of Disciplinary Investigations. She has also served as an official of the Council of State.

Her career has focused on disciplinary and administrative law, leading high-profile cases, supervising disciplinary investigations, and participating in the resolution of appeals related to administrative sanctions.

Her professional qualities include in-depth knowledge of disciplinary law, analytical capacity for complex cases, legal research skills, effective coordination of multidisciplinary teams, and excellent communication and legal argumentation skills.
