The SIC Participated in International Conferences on Health Data in Lima
The Superintendence de Industry and Commerce (SIC) took part from February 25 to 27, 2026, in the Health Data Management Awareness Conference, held in Lima, Peru.
The event, organized by the Fundación para la Internacionalización de las Administraciones Públicas (FIAP) within the framework of the European Union–Latin America and the Caribbean Digital Alliance (EU–LAC), brought together authorities and experts from the region and the European Union to address governance, privacy, interoperability, and security in the handling of health data.
The institution was represented by Dr. Juan Carlos Upegui Mejía, Deputy Superintendent for Personal Data Protection, and Dr. Carolina García Molina, Director of Personal Data Protection Investigations, who shared Colombia’s experience and took part in the exchange of good regulatory practices.
Through this participation, the SIC strengthens its regional leadership in data protection and reaffirms Colombia’s commitment to privacy and the secure digital transformation of the healthcare sector.
