On June 28, the Industrial Property Authorities of Colombia, Costa Rica, Chile and Peru, signed the Memorandum of Understanding that gave place to the Constitution of the Latin American Network of Industrial Property and Gender.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Daren Tang, Director General of the Intellectual Property Organization, the Superintendent of Industry and Commerce and the Deputy Superintendent for Industrial Property of Colombia, Andrés Barreto and Maria José Lamus, respectively; also, Loreto Bresky, National Director of the National Institute of Industrial Property of Chile; the Director of the National Registry of Costa Rica, Fabiola Varela and the President of INDECOPI, Hania Pérez de Cuéllar.

The objective of the network is to promote gender equity and reduce the inequality gap, as well as to facilitate the exchange of best practices among countries, share information and experiences on the subject and strengthen the gender agenda in Industrial Property.

The pro tempore presidency will be in charge of the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Intellectual Property of Peru (INDECOPI) headed by its director, Hania Pérez de Cuéllar.
