The SIC Participated in the 4th Edition of the WIPO Symposium "Women and IP" in Geneva
The Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC), represented by its Superintendent, Dr. Cielo Rusinque, took part from May 11 to 13, 2026, in the 4th edition of the Symposium "Women and IP" for IP and Innovation Offices, held at the headquarters of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva, Switzerland.
The event, organized by WIPO, brought together heads of intellectual property offices, authorities, and experts from around the world to address the design of inclusive regulatory frameworks for women innovators and entrepreneurs, the integration of women into the policies and systems of IP offices, the development of women's and girls' creative capacities, support for women in emerging technology sectors such as artificial intelligence and the digital economy, and public-private partnerships for inclusive innovation ecosystems.
During the symposium, participants engaged in workshops and high-level dialogues, including the improved measurement of sex-disaggregated data on IP and innovation, strategic foresight as a planning tool for the advancement of women in IP, and sustained outreach to communities underrepresented in the intellectual property system. The program also featured a keynote session on creating in the age of AI and the role of women founders and inventors, as well as collaborative actions following the 2026 International Women's Day joint message.
