Tower Records receives brand recognition from SIC

The Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC), as National Industrial Property Authority, granted trademark notoriety to TOWER RECORDS, a famous record store created in 1960, in the United States. The decision was taken after denying the application for registration of the mixed trademark TOWER RECORDS NO MUSIC, NO LIFE.

After the registrability analysis, the SIC concluded that, although the sign TOWER RECORDS is no longer physically present in the Colombian market, it enjoys a high recognition and remembrance among consumers of music. Thus, with the registration of the trademark applied for, an unjustified benefit would have been obtained from the efforts made by the directors of TOWER RECORDS to position and maintain its trademark in the world market.
