SIC signs a cooperation agreement with the European Patent Office – EPO
The Agreement has a duration of 5 years and represents all the work carried out by the SIC in order to achieve good partnerships that allow to strengthen its work as an Industrial Property Office.
The Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC), in its role as national authority for the registration of industrial property, signed an Enhanced Cooperation Agreement with the European Patent Office - EPO.
The main objective of the agreement is to achieve advanced collaboration that will strengthen the work of the SIC in the field of patents, using the results of state-of-the-art searches and examinations carried out by the EPO. This will make it possible to contribute to the quality and efficiency of patentability studies.
The Convention also establishes a comprehensive programme of technical cooperation that will include
- Specialized and sectorized training and education for Colombian examiners.
- Access to and assistance in the use of EPO search tools.
- Exchange of best practices among patent examiners and administration teams.
- Information on decisions taken by the EPO Court of Appeals.
